Hey cattdogger,

Any sign around charleston. I've been up on Cheat Mtn this week. Grew up, up there. I guess I'm too busy too keep a good pack of hounds myself. Mostly run with my brothers in Randolph and Pocahontas county. Never ran Bobs...on purpose, I would like to give it a try. Welcome to the board. Where do you live in Charleston. I'm in St Albans.

I would really like to get with you in january and check out the bobcats. That is a slow time for me and i would like to stay chasing something. I didn't figure there is much going on in town. I guess i was really asking about bear sign around the southern counties. It seems like ours are really thinned out where i ussually hunt, and i'm afraid there will be nothing left come next week. good luck

I was on a lease in webster for a couple year. In Eurbaken. Never got to bear hunt it. they are definitly there. Steep country.

It seems like people aren't as dog friendly down here as they are in the mountains. Maybe that is just me.

no it's not you. they aint very dog friendly down here.if you know much about clay,co.i had dog shot in the middle of a black top road on punkin ridge,i was hunting at amma where i lived and the do got out of hearing and i lost him he had a tracker on but when the shot him the took the collar off and buried him but with a good led and the tracker.we figured out where he was an who done it.

Thats terrible man.

My brothers and i came down to Fayette county and hunted the early season one time and got a dog shot on the first of 2 days hunting. That was on a club that invited us on to thin the bear out for the deer hunting. That certainly put a bad taste i my mouth. I'm almost afraid to let a dog get out of sight, after listenting to guys talk about how readily they shoot dogs. it is worth the drive to the mountains, just so that i don't have to worry as much about that.

Thats why I am headed for the mountains next week. bear or no bear. I'll seek them on something.

Do you do ok running bobcats or do you still have to deal with the idiots just as much?

I have to deal with the same people when im runnin bobcats.seems like its comeing if you dont own a bunch of land.we might aswell get rid of the hounds cause we wont be able to hunt them.well good luck next week try to stay safe.
