Wondering what kind of dog food y'all like to feed dogs that get hunted a bunch. I see Black Gold ads a bunch in FUll Cry and Cooner...I am curious about Black Gold and other brands. What do you guys feed.....why?

I would be feeding PZAZZ if I could get it to washington without paying out an arm and a leg. I fed one ton of it to my hounds and it was the best that I have found. Very little cleanup,two or three cups a day for a 65 pound hound and they looked great.After the pzazz I switched to black gold and was not happy.The PZAZZ was twice the feed and half the cleanup.

Black Gold its the way 2 go they do real good on it its kinda spende but worth every penny, but u gotta feed what u like and what works 4 u we all got different opinions.

None of the dry foods provide everything your dog needs. Never feed just one kind of food to your dog all the time. They will be lacking in something and it will hurt them in the long run. Why not buy two or three types and mix them. Then, ALWAYS feed them meat 2-3 times a week at least. You'll be surprised how much better your dogs do. Talk to your local guy that picks up dead horses or find yourself a roadkill if its legal. Gind it up and feed it raw or cooked. I personnaly feed Bison meat to my dogs every other day. Never had a dog to the vet in over 10 years. Your pups will grow up much stronger and healthier too.

Gotta agree with Dean - the two best things we ever did is give the dogs more space and run them together in kennels and feeding meat every other day or so. HUGE differences. For the dry stuff, we use Purina Pro.

I feed mine the Diamond Naturals, $24.50/40#. I feed the Extreme Athlete (32/22) from bear season thru end of Coon season. The Chicken & Rice (26/16) in the cooler months, and Lamb & Rice in warmer months (24/14)

I will mix it at times with Science Diet Adult/Active Adult, whenever we have specials on it at work. Or pick up some Exceed and mix it. I really like the Exceed food, but its going up in price and I hate making a trip to Sam's Club.

I also feed them left over or extra meat, veggies, and fruit. My dogs will raid a garden or fruit trees. They will eat every squash, tomato, apple, mullberry, pear, or plumbs they can get ahold of. It is messy at first (cow pies), but after a while there stomach gets used to it, and it does no good to try and keep them out.

Has anybody ever heard of feeding ground up cow liver? a guy asked if I wanted to try it because he had a person buying it from the butcher he work for. The person ran sled dogs.

I agree with Buzz pzazz is about has good as you can get for the money but I also think sportmix pre. is just as good I can get pzazz but have to go to far to get it so I feed sportmix 24/20 dogs are in nice scape and good and slick feed 2 or 3 cups per dog may be a little more when running it dependes on time of year

I buy direct from the local wholesaler. I'm paying about 40% less then what the feed stores are selling it for. I buy 1 ton at a time, 40 bags, and depending on how many dogs I'm feeding, it last close to a year. And they deliver it right to my place for $10.
You guys should check into buying it direct, hopefully you'll save some money. Dog food has gone way up in the past two years.

I feed Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice

Been feeding Black Gold for quite a while, but this last batch was noticably different from previous batches. The food looked different, smelled different, and was a much dryer kibble than the somewhat oily kibble of the past.

Dealer said they changed mills. He also said they have changed mills 7 times in the past 10 years.

They are also going to follow the trend of shrinking us back to 40# bags and charging the same as they did for 50#

I'm feeding it out but looking.

Hi Standard is supposed to be comming out with a meat based 26/22 this July at about $22.00 for 50#.

I recently bought a dog food box from my local butcher. It's bones, livers, kidneys, spleen, whatever kind of meat scraps all rough ground together. I slowly started adding to their dry feed. My pup is kind of a picky eater, but when I put that in his bowl, he ate like he actually liked it! My female is 5 and she's been on dry food her whole life so this was kind of a shock to her. She's warmed up to it though.

I feed about two cups a day...stool is way smaller and more compact and turns into chalk in a couple days. You guys heard anything like feeding this kind of stuff...is there a cheaper option. I got like 60 lbs for $25. I've heard that its not so good to feed organs too often, but I've gotten mixed reviews...any thoughts?
