A little bit but Jargo was heavier and looked to be a little sronger or wider built. Jargo I beleive was back to Ellison's Blue Tige.
Al and I were very good freinds and communicated for many years. Al even made his way to New Mexico one time and made a lion hunt in the Buckhorn Country down around Cliff with Ray Freeman who bought some dogs from Al. As much as I loved Al I would never let him talk me into one of his pups. I told him dog gone it Al I pull that horse trailer for horses and if I get them dogs of yours I am going to have to get a bigger trailer. LOL! Al was a top dog man and breeder and a true friend. We you to send cassette tape back and forth of dogs treeing and I even would carry a clumsy recorder with batteries and take Al and his friends along with me while my dogs chased a lion.
Al's favorite sayings: I do my culling before I breed, treedogs first by treedogs and reproducers of the same. And I will see you in the puckerbrush!

You know, with all of this talk lately about the breeders and hounds of old, I can only hope that in the next few years we see hounds the likes of which have previously only been dreams...

You know back in the mid 90's I stayed at the "Bluetick Hotel" which was Al's house. He was a helluva a good guy. We did not get to hunt due to bad weather but he took me down history lane for most of the evening and I got to hear many stories and see many pictures about Al and his beloved blueticks.
I mostly lion/bobcat hunt and I could never get myself to try one of his big blues due to the size issue but now that time has passed and Al is gone I wished I would have tried at least one.
He was a good man

Shoot, you know the best way to get around that size issue is to not take so many out! For cats you really only need one or two anyway.
