Eric now that he's started to climb trees its going to be hard to break him especially from big leaners. When I tree train my pups I always tie them close to the tree and will only except standing on the wood treeing or siting back on there buts treeing, No jumping, no running around, and no branch chewing. If I get to a tree and see anything other than what I mentioned they get leashed up and tied back for awhile. Then I will lead them back to the tree and let them tree with me holding the leash and not allowing any BS.
Hope it works out.
What kind of dog is he?

Thanks for the input on this Walker pup.I really do think that this tree climbing is probably gonna be very hard,if not impossible to correct seeing as how the dog is nearly a year and a half old and has the breeding background to suggest that this may well be an hereditary traight.I honestly do believe that they do get this passed on in their genetic make up as they would with tree fighting and treeing style, think there is little hope here.
