The only necklaces they put on the lions in my part of the state is a steel, metal tag--also known as a permanent tag! Count your blessings that you don't have alot of new bighorn sheep areas out there and that the fish and game find value in your lions and protect them from harvest with a tracking collar...........
If the fish and game ever want to collar and save some of our lions all they have to do is call ol' Ike and he'll catch them for free, and it won't be the first time either! Here is a bear I caught for collaring and I only hope that collar may well save her to reproduce a few more cubs to chase. Like the female lions, sows are only a bear when they hit the wood and too many people pull the trigger on them........

ike im not bitchin about it im lucky to have these cats to run. thats a big reason i live where i do i load the hounds at the house on the fourwheeler and cuting tracks in five minutes. the only reason im in this sport is to train dogs and watch them develop. in 15 years i have not put in for a cat tag some day i will, but i will only kill one that is if i ever find one worth killing. never put in for bear yet eather. just like the hounds and the sounds. bobcat are another story i have killed a few toms, theirs still a few left i hope the price comes down so the trappers dont take them all.
