ok so its pretty much a full moon out. My dogs have been barking like crazy ever since it got dark. Their bark isnt like they're barkin at anything, more barking just to bark. i keep sneaking out to try and see what it is. they arent looking at anyone direction or anything like that. they are usually pretty good about barking in their pen. but not tonight. my only thoughts are that its a full moon. what are your thoughts, does the moon make your dogs bark like in "the fox and the hound" too?

Howdy,
I read your question about dogs barking at a full moon. I've had hounds for many years and have never had that happen. My dogs know to NEVER bark in the pen unless it is feeding time. Only then will I allow them to bark and not get in trouble for it. If I am at home during the day and I hear one of my dogs bark for more than a few seconds, I'm out the door and off to the kennel and those dogs see me coming and hit the dog houses. They know senseless barking is a "no no".......hope this helps.

Full moon changes the feel of things and dog sense it. Most coon hunters avoid a full moon but cat hunters should watch the lunar charts. From two days before till two days after cat activity will peak like a lot of predators and black bass.
Dog get restless and so do I during these times. Maybe it's the predator in me. LOL!

I live in a place that its not going to bother anyone but me if my dogs barked but I do not let them do it. All fifteen of them are very quite. But every now and then they will do what my wife and I call singing. Its mostly when one of us leaves the house and the dogs think no one is home. It sounds like wolves howling. Once it gets going its funny to watch so I never have got after them about it. I havent noticed if the moon has anything to do with when they are doing this but I will pay attention next time.
