My 9 year old son killed his first bear this past season and is getting a half body mount. But we can't decide which mount to go with. What Do you all think? I like the one with the mouth open and he likes the one with the mouth closed.

Id have it done the way that most reminded me of the hunt or when I first saw the bear. I did that with my big Deer now every time I see it it brings me back to that day when I squeezed the trigger.

His trophy - I say let him pick it, just show him a few of each and make sure he knows what he wants.

I think closed looks alot better. I had one done that had an open mouth.I just think it look unnatural (fake)

Just got one of each back and the open mouth looks better. I thought I would like the closed mouth, but the open mouth just looks tuff

When we took it to the taxidermist we picked out the one with the closed mouth . I called the taxidermist back and told him we changed our mind we want something different. He sends his hides to California to get tanned said it takes 60 days roundtrip
to get em back . So he told us to think about . We decided on the one with the open mouth with its paw on the wood. The one I have done with its mouth open is ok, but it was done 15 years ago . The details they have now in just the mouth piece of the bear is great. Mine looks so plain.

Got any pictures of your mounts ? Two done at one time. I can hardly afford one at $1033.00 a half mount . However this guy does very good work ,I found cheaper but the quality of the work was not the greatest and believe it or not I found one guy that wanted 1500.00 . I told my boy I'd do this one for him but anymore and he's on his own.

Defiantly with the mouth open and its a bottle opener. hahah

I would go with the close mouth.

I prefer the open mouth with a snarled-up nose.
