I started the end of April but didnt even get after anything until mid may. The bears dont move good where I hunt until then. people who have the timr to run baits seem to have a little better luck earlier but i dodnt have the time.Good luck with your bear season!

you guys start running the same time we start baiting. you run all black or do you have others too? i've found so far black n tans are all around reliable for bear. they have the best of all traits. good solid noses, loud mouths, speeds not the greatest but they'll run all day if you let them.

I do have a walker and a red colored Plott/walker. But Im slowly weedin them out a would like to have an all Black pack.As for speed mine have all been hunted with Stevens curs so there not all that slow, but they do sloww up after an hour or so. Ive hunted with other houndsmen and as a general rule my pack has a tendency to be a little faster then most other hounds. The only real problem i have with speed is when they do get behind in a race with other dogs involved they seem to slow up big time.Which is very flustrating. They seem to do better when its just my pack.

we had that problem 1 speed demon of a walker made the rest look bad. but she'd get so far ahead, she was all alone.the bear would turn and with no back up she'd quit. then it was all over. speed in the begining is great but after a mile or so they start to slow. we've had chases last 5 hrs. they get real slow by the end. and you can't blame them, but they never stop till you grab them. and buddy's got 1 that still tries to sneak around you to keep going. we used to have a variety but now 18+ black dogs in our group

all 4 of mine are black n tan, 2 are sisters from different litters,1 is out of another sisters litter and one from south dakota i got from a guy i found on here. yet to run him on bear but sunday we'll see

Ken lives in Morgan UT. He is a real nice guy with good dogs. I hunted with him last year and have a 3 month old pup from him now. I really like the pup.

Boy its been realy dead on the B&T section. I went over to the UKC site for a while but all they talk about is competition coon hunting. Which frankly dont meen sh#t to me. Ive treed a few more bear, but due to the extreme temperatures and dryground , havent done very well since the 4th of July. Ive only caught 17 so far this year, hope the fall kill season is better for me. Anyone else doin any good?

aint been too hot here. but dryer than a popcorn fart. makes it damn hard to get things going thats for sure. all the bears want to do is fight or run for 5 hrs. the boys had one run 14miles north the other day. i was sleeping in had to work till 2:00 the night before. but that was one i was glad to miss

Figured Id post something here. Training seasons over and the fall season doesnt start till August 30th so Im not hunting much, chasin a few coons on the cricks but nothing to extreme. Hope the fall take season is good to me, or at least better than July was. If anyone knows how to do a rain dance they need to get to dancing around here.
