I was just wondering guys, you here some guys on here talk and moan about not having any hunting for bear, bobcat, lion and so on. Or for instance kennel licenses or rack meetings about our sport or anything to do with hounds and our rights to fight. They sit back and do all this crying but wont stand behind or come support there local club or clubs.Either there dogs are to good to run a drag or they have some B.S. excuse about how they cant make it or let alone send there whole big $10.00 a year membership. But when it comes down to help fight for there kennel lic. or animal control breathing down there neck or show up to a rack meeting with numbers for the cause, Guess who they call there local club president or someone involved and want help. everybody is out to get JOE BLOW. Im all for helping any of our houndsmen and women no matter what the situation is but it leaves a nasty taste in your mouth when all the ones you end up helping are the ones that never support there local club or organization. I dont mean to come off as a jerk or being ignorrant, I would like to see more people join and support our nations greatest sport. So just a few thoughts seeing what all you guys think about it . thanks Bigbear

We have the same problem here in Northern California, I'm the current Pres. of north Central California Houndsmen, there are 100's of houndsmen in the state that do very little to support the local or the state club, they don't under stand that without the clubs standing up and fighting for there rights in the past they wouldn't be able to hunt today, we have maybe half of them show up at our field trials or fund raisers we put on field trials in Jan. Feb. and the last one in March (Elk Creek the 21st and 22nd) it's the best turn out of the three, year there over 200 dogs entered in the two day's. we also putting on a diner on April 4th in Red Bluff ,all the proceeds go the Political Victory Fund and is sponsored by our club. With out these clubs and fund raisers we done as HOUNDMEN.

doesnt it just make you sick, you put all that time in to get ready for the trials send out fliers and prep and out of the hundreds of houndsman around and you get a half a dozen to show up. its like competing with yourself. But that aint the point either its about coming and enjoying your sport and when it boils down to it your supporting somthing that united we can fight.

You got that right, I know of at least six hound hunters in Grass Valley that don't show up for any of the fund raiser or support the clubs that have supported them for years and these are the same guys that got me into it 20+ years ago, and started our locale club.

bigbear. it is called jealousy. dog hunters are the worst of the hunting groups. you think women happen to be a squaking bunch of hens? i just volunteered to guide a cast of coon hunters over the week end. a comment was made about a car pool of out of state hunters. if the one didn't win it was going to be a long ride home listening to him whine, well not me. i would kick his butt and his dog to the curb. in a heart beat he'd be walking. he came happy! if he didn't win is simply because he ran his mouth more than his dog! hound hunting is a loner sport. it never works well in large numbers. solitary types of guys. so forget them joining a club and making a positive impact. most would only bring negative input to help bring the club down "it is all about me".it doesn't vary much from state to state. jmo!
