Last Day Tom!

The Idaho season closed on the 31st of March. We were lucky enough to close the season just like we opened it......with a big ole' Tom. Just like the first one of the season this one was left in the tree. :D :( They don't get much larger in these parts so hopefuly the gamble to find him next year, bigger, will pay off????? Not likley, but possible. 1-2%?? oh, well.

It was a fantastic year, in which I was able to take advantage of a slow construction industry and get my 1 1/2 old trained up right. She learned a lot from my six year old-Reba. Together they were under 42 lions and 1 bobcat this season!!! All that means is I had a lot of time on my hands :D

That's a ton of training and obviously some very good cat numbers.

I bet you will find an even bigger one next year, and your conservation will pay off.

Good job!

Nice work!!! Leaving them in the tree will pay off in dividends later on when you want to take a whopper. Great pictures!

Nice lion, I bet your 1 1/2 old is strung tighter than a fiddle after 42 lions!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I checked his stride in three different places and they were all 48" measurements! He is a long cat, maybe he will put some real weight on in the next year. We almost turned out on a smaller tom and female in the same canyon before I talked the crew into this track :D The female must have been in heat with two nice toms in the same area.

Excellent season on the cats! Wish we could put those lions up trees here in Oregon. Seeing a bobcat is nice but a big old tom longtail would be even better. Keep on keeping on!

Here are a few more Toms from this year that I leashed the dogs up and walked away from. Most were needing a couple of years to mature.

nice cats I also hunt here in Idaho and I put a lot of lions up the tree this year and not one of them was over 120 lbs but people are coming down to where i hunt and killing every one they put up the tree, its a shame.
