I just bought a 4 month old walker out of house breeding. he is my first walker and im not familier with walker backgrounds. Can anyone give me some info on this house breed

it sounds to me like you have a grade dog, never herd of house breeding, but i could be wrong, but i think that is a grade walker you have.

I have 3 registered walkers that have HOUSES'S CHEIF, HOUSE'S CLINT, AND HOUSES LIPPER in their pedigree. It is a few generstions back in all 3 dogs. Seems like it was popular for a while.

You can pretty much find House in every pedigree of walker you look at if you go back far enough. Joe house has had some pretty awsome dogs over the years.

Im pretty sure houses lipper was one of the best reproducing walkers ever. I have had a few good dogs with lipper in their papers three or four times. I have a male here right now that is lipper bred and probably the most natural game catching machine that i have ever been around.

Lipper has fell back to about #5 Reproducer now but he held #1 for awhile. I had a male that was Directly out of Lipper and the females Grand sire was Lipper. He was a nice dog.

i've hunted with dogs that were out of houses lipper and rat attack jr breeding
seemed bout just the same as the grade and mixed breed dogs lol
but we were huntin them on lions, dont know how good noses are on those dogs though i'd imagine they arent too cold nosed being those are coondog lines....

If it was a lack of nose or tracking, it didn't come from Lipper.

I have some House/Lipper bred dogs. Like Ranger said above, some of the most natural game catching dogs I've had. My young female really makes it look easy at times. You can call it coondog lines all ya want, but I tell you what she's a far better bear dog, and she has a nose. She'd be a good coondog too if she used more mouth.

I plan on breeding in the future to a heavy House bred stud. They work well for me.

House and Bozo bred dogs work well, and I like them paired up together.
Love it when I see Lipper, Maniac, Swamp, Coma, Clover, and Wipeout in a Good dogs pedigree.

The only line of Walker "coondogs" I tend to stay away from the most are Harry bred. But I know they work for some people as big game dogs. Just not me. I don't have Harry in my dogs.

The origional Harry, yes. I don't consider that "Harry" bred as those dogs just show Old Harry once. Old Harry is a lot different than "Stylish Harry." I also don't like Stylish Hayes bred. Though I do like Stylish Lipper (ie his father). I think Hayes and Stylish Harry were where a lot of hot nosed slick treeing idiots came from.. Stylish Lipper sired Hayes, and I wont own a dog with Hayes in it. But I have a lot of Stylish Lipper in my dogs. I also don't mind Old Harry, but won't have Stylish Harry in my lines. I tend to stay away from certain dogs than "lines". But I will say Sty Harry has pretty much become a "line" where as Old Harry really wasn't a "line" but a foundation dog.

I like old blood, and try to weed out some of the "super studs" out of my pedirees. No Stylish Harry, No Stylish Hayes, No Nailor, NO Rat Attack. Very little Sackett and Yadkin River if possible. Lipper was of course in the "super stud" boat but most of my dogs are thinned down being they are more directly from Stylish Lipper.

Stylish Harry is Lipper bred as is Stylish Hayes. Nailor is Lipper bred.Sackett Jr. goes Back to Bozo and Rat Attack is Heavy Bozo. So I am confused, but that is alright as long as you know what you like (don't you ?) that is all that counts. I don't have anything with Stylish Harry & Stylish Hayes. So I couldn't tell you how good they are and It is hard to Judge Lipper because he was bred to so many Bitches. But I can say that the one I had was directly out of House's Lipper and a House's Lipper bred female, They are later starters usually around a year but good track dogs, fast but it is hard to get them to slow down and work a older track until they get some age on them( around 5). I have had better luck with Clover/Bozo on Waltz's Road Block, put a great nose on them, Brains and great tree. They can run a good track and slow it down a grub an old track

I tend to stay away from certain dogs in a pedigree, and similar breedings to them, that I consider "lines". I feel they have less than desireable qualities that seems to show up in dogs that show them in there pedigree close up.

I tend to try and keep a few other dogs in my dogs as well close up. There are a few other dogs and lines I like as well, but for the time being I have whats working.

mr. pacojack, I have to agree with u about them not slowing down and trailing. I get a little bit of this almost every time I trail a lion unless they are really worn down. I just tell him to slow down and they seem to know what im saying. I have always talked to my dogs alot. I have found its not to much of a problem. Atleast they are trying to cold trail. The worst seems to be after bear season. I start the first lion of the year and they go charging down it a ways til they realize they are going to have to slow down and trail. Even this said this is just picking him apart. He is by far the best lion and bear dog I have ever been around. I wish he was out of the line of dogs Im breeding but hes not. He just out of a bunch of coon dogs. But alot of the things that makes a good coon dog are the same exact thing im looking for in a lion and bear dog. Excellent locators, fast trailers, no back tracking, hard tree dogs. U just have to find a good line a stick with it.
