* * * PLEASE CROSS POST * * *

This bill has passed its first hearing, it will make it illegal to sell - or 'advertise' (which means if someone sees your dog and likes it thats an advertisement) offer for sale - any animal in a public area....not for eating, raising showing, hunting etc., etc. No more dog shows, no more field trials, no rodeos, horse shows, 4H and FFA, it pretty much outlaws everything - because if you are found guilty of violating the sale law you will be charged with animal cruelty and no longer allowed to own animals.

California Assembly Bill 1122 (Animal Abuse: Sale of Live Animals: Flea Markets) was originally scheduled to be heard in Assembly Business & Professions Committee on 28 April. There is a change in the hearing date. It is now scheduled for 21 April.

I telephoned B& P this morning to confirm the change of date. The deadline to submit letters of support or opposition on this bill (to be included in the official analysis) was yesterday at 5pm. However, we can still submit letters to the Committee analyst. Letters must be on letterhead (with signature) and be either a word doc or pdf file.

Here is his contact information:

All you need to do is hit L.A. San Diego and San Francisco and Sacramento. That would take care of the problem. Let me know how I can help liontracker

I believe those are on Binladens' list!

Not to belittle your situation Liz, because I feel your frustration.
Trying to get political participation for houndsmen is a bleak proposition.
Sad but true.

This bullshit just amazes me, people have nothing better to do than worry about what others are doing in the world such as their lifestyle, lively hood,their hobbies. We as hunters aren't down to the capitol building trying to outlaw mountain bikeing, as ranchers we're not bitching because they choose to eat vegetables instead of beef, we're not trying to put an end to their lifestyles and hobbies, yet these type of people seem to think they should rule our lives and what we do even though what we do doesn't effect them or their family in any way shape or form. These same liberal types can also cram their views down our childrens and our own throats about "gay is ok". What a joke, I'm sure glad I don't live in Cali. There are some cool rodeos, some good hound hunting to be had, and some awesome ranches there. It's too bad the fudge packers and fur traders are taking over. what's even sadder is the piss poor support you guys are getting from your fellow houndsmen. I know there's a lot of california houndsmen out there, but it seems they think this will just go away and someone else will get the problem fixed. I'm glad I live where I do cause this crap wouldn't fly for a second around here. Sorry Liz, if I were you and was able, California wouldn't see my ass for the dust!

It doesn't matter anymore if you leave, this shit...these type of bills are happening in EVERY state. If they are not in your state yet just wait until they do pass a few and watch the ball start rolling...we need to kill these bills not run.

Its very important that we call and fax the committee...the bill will be heard again THIS TUESDAY :(

If this inane bill actually passes I swear to be the first arrested for it It sounds pretty unconstitutional and could probably be overturned. But it is the shove over the edge of the slippery slope our government is pushing us to. When one is pushed too far they tend to push back.
