snakebites ???

I did a search for snakebites but couldn't find any posts. Here in OR rattlers are starting to come out and just wondering if anybodys ever had any problems and what they did.

I have hade 4 dogs bit buy rattle snakes all still alive. they have a snake bite vac.out that you can get from your vet about 35 bucks a dog here don't know how much it is there. but well worth the money to me.

30 dollars here in California for the vaccine. Fortunate to not have to see if it works yet.

Here in South Texas Rattlers are known to be very abundant. We have several dog bit every year. We give them 6cc's of Dexamethazone and 2 or 3cc's of Penacellin. Repeat for a couple days but reduce the Pen. to 1cc. Haven't lost one in a long time. If they get bit in the nose thats when you run into trouble. Stich a soda straw up their nostrils to keep their air passage open. Do this on top of the above said Dex. and Pen. and you should be in good shape.

I haven't got any experiance with the vaccine but think it's also a good idea. I do know that the second time a dog gets bit the reaction is alot less severe. Good luck and I how you have to use none of this. Hate them damn snakes!!!
