Possible cougar attack in McMinnville OR

This was on the news this morning. Pet was a basset hound.
Potential Cougar attack of a Domestic Pet reported in McMinnville - 05/04/09
On Saturday, May 2nd, 2009, McMinnville Police Department received information about a possible cougar attack on a pet in the 900 block of West Second Street. The attack apparently occurred between 6:30 and 9:30 pm on Friday, May 1st, 2009. The pet apparently survived the attack and was seen by a local veterinarian. The veterinarian reported the information that she felt the attack had been by a cougar.
The McMinnville Police Department has been in contact with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW). The ODFW will be attempting to evaluate the information and area to determine if there was a cougar involved.
If anyone sees a cougar or evidence of a cougar (tracks, predatory kills, etc) within the boundaries of the city, they are asked to immediately notify the McMinnville Police Department, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), or Oregon State Police. This notification can be made by calling YCOM (Yamhill County Communications) at 503-434-6500. They will forward the information to all appropriate agencies.
