Ive always been able to have a little acepromozine to sedate the dogs when I need to do some bad wound cleaning before sutures. Ive also used benadril to make them a little dopey so they will relax for smaller wounds. What other options do I have? Im out of ace and havent been ablt to get any more. I dont like piling a bunch of guys on the dog to keep them still. The job gets rushed and the dog is already under enough pain and stress. Anybody have a good method?

You might want to look in to getting some Valerian Root.

easy access to a vet isnt possible in the woods. 4 hours away by truck from the nearest vet isnt uncommon. When your on foot miles into a canyon and the rig is a 3 to 4 hour walk out before the truck is even possible you have to be able to do whatever possible to help your dogs when they are hurt. If anybody has a line on getting some ace I would greatly appreciate it. So would my dogs.

I use the hell out of Lidocaine and Ace. I buy all my meds from a company in medesto and from petmeds on line. Ask your vet(if you have a good vibe with'em) to write you a script for Ace or lidocaine and you can go onto petmeds and get it filled cheap. I also get my stapleguns from my vet, the ones they use after surgery, they can only use them on one animal then they have to throw'em away and alot of'em have 90% of there staples left.

you might try meeting some team ropers in some cases vet's will let them get "ace" a little easier. lidocaine is easey to get in mexico, as is ace they have it a little easier there then we do. if you know anyone that travels south ask them to bring you a souvenier
