The summer heat is coming on and for some this changes the hunting significantly from the spring pattern to a warmer summer pattern.

I was hunting this morning and made some realizations of how things have changed because of the heat. I was just thinking that this may be a great time for some of the more experienced bear hunters to share with those of us that are not as experienced what to watch out for during times of summer time heat.

What I saw this morning was that one hill on the Mountain I have been hunting is not as good to me as it has been. Two or three trips to the hill now and no strikes on that hill. So as I drove around I tried to figure out what has changed and what I came to is it has to be the heat.

So with that said:
Do any of the more experienced hunters have advise for the rest of us?

Well here on the East side of the country I have found that the bear are still there it's just a lot harder to strike them from the truck. For examlpe I saw a bear cross the road one day in August and has we drove over it the hounds acted as if nothing had ever crossed the road............But we put the hounds down they took it very well. So my advice is to put the hounds on the ground you will find a lot more game.

After the first frost in late September or October the striking from the truck gets a lot better..................I think its the humidity that makes the difference.
