Lorry's speech:" I am here because I have concerns with Fish and Game taking money from the Humane Society of the United States. Their anti-hunting stance seems at odds with Fish and Game's mission. Why would an organization accept a donation from another organization who is out to destroy them? Politicians routinely return donations that are discovered to be tainted and while mildly embarrasing the still come out looking like their number one concern is the public interest and not their campaign's bank account." She then quoted Pacelle "We have no problems with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding" to directly rebut the commissioner's statement praising HSUS for supporting the use of rescue dogs for the K9 division. She finished her speech:" I think Fish and Game should give the money back even though their budgets are being cut. I think once California's hunters find out about the HSUS's donation they will make up the differnce."
I called them on the carpet and Lorry's rebuttal gave 'em RUG BURN!!!! In a week or so the entire exchange will be on video on the commission's web page. After my three minute speech, three commissioner's went on for twice that trying to undo the damage but when you see the entire video it's pathetic politics and bs at it's worst. I could rant on for another thousand words but I'm going to be constructive. Here are the members of the California Fish and Game Commission and their emails. Let them know how you feel and please show them a little more respect than they showed me. Cindy Gustafson, president cgustafson@fgc.ca.gov Jim Kellogg v.p. jkellogg@fgc.ca.gov Richard B. Rogers, member rrogers@fgs.ca.gov Michael Sutton, member msutton@fgc.ca.gov Daniel W. Richards, member drichards@fgc.ca.gov John Carlson Jr., exec. dir. jcarlson@fgc.ca.gov Jon K. Fischer, dep. exec. dir jfischer@fgc.ca.gov Adrianna Shea dep. exec. dir ashea@fgc.ca.gov and just for good measure drop a line to our chief Nancy Foley at nfoley@dfg.ca.gov I considered the commission's actions today to be outrageous, treacherous, and shameful! On a positive note I met and made contact with Dick Dasmann, a professional guide, who was speaking in the public forum regarding the scandal involving opening bear hunting in San Luis Opbispo county. He doesn't hunt with dogs but will be a valuable ally in our upcoming fight with the commission. The next meeting is Aug. 5-6 in Woodland. I am a lousy public speaker but getting used to it. Let's tie up the next meeting's public forum with hours of angry testimony. I used to say democracy was a full contact sport so get on the field or get out of the game. Now? now they have brought it down to a street brawl, better yet, a ground fight like when the damn bear refuses to tree. I don't like 'em. They are scary, exhilirating, put the danger in hunting dangerous game, and I ain't lost one yet and this one ain't gonna be the first
