i have a 3 1/2 year old walker female probably the best dog i have ever owned she would catch 98% of the lions bobs and coons by herself we turned her out on however about 2 months ago she got into a porcipine and ever since then she has been on 4 or 5 bear runs and a few lion and a dozen coon and she seems real interested still but she just cant seem to work them out to catch them she still opens on trail the same she just looses them to easy and she seems to be acting like a pup again kind of wanting to play any ideas on what the hell this dogs problem is i have been around hounds my whole life and never had this problem

I wonder if there's a barb or 3 sunken in somewhere that effects her sense of smell ?

I would agree, if she got it real bad there could be some in there causeing problems, or something could have been damaged?? I'm no vet though

I would guess that there was nerve damage in the nose area.. --back about 89 I had a female that got impaled on an iron rod in some concrete that lost her sense of smell.. the vet said it MIGHT come back in 6-8 months... it did but not to the degree as before that..
best of luck there.

i hightly doubt she caught any in the nose, cause if she did her nose would swell like a ballon by the next morning, and she would be pawin at her nose tryin to get em out.

I agree. I'd take her to the vet and at least rule it out if they can.

I agree. I have seen alot of females do this more so than males. They will start out strong and then drift back. Sometimes it is just a matter of giving them a little time and if possible to turn them loose with other dogs and just let them play and be a dog. I have noticed such a difference in my pups just letting them run play and hunt on their own and when it is time to start hunting they are all about that instead of playing. Good luck.
