A friend and I went to our camp to do some repair work and mill around in the woods this past week. After the chores were done (firewood, weedeating, putting out dog houses and chains to name a few) we went to our food plots. They were pretty much gone. There was a few beans left and 1 lonely stalk of corn still standing. The bears had been using it pretty heavy leaving hair on the fences where they crossed. We traveled up the road and found numberous trails, slids, and tracks coming off the banks. The best find was at our other friends cabin. We got out and the first thing we saw was that the telephone pole was half chewed in to about 7 feet up. Of course we got into a friendly arguement about whether they actually climb the tree (pole in this case) and chew or stand flat footed. When we walked onto the porch a bear had left a nice pile of blackberry crap at the door and tried his best to take the door with him. We came back to our camp built a fire in the fire ring to keep the skeeters and knats at bay and enjoyed a few cold brewskies before turning in. I can't wait until october to get down there and run a few of them.
