So, after I got done explaining to my pup that we didn't want to catch skunksAfter thumbing through it for awhile I came across it. The Remedy called for

1quart hydrogen peroxide 3%.
1/4 cup baking soda (not baking powder)
1 galon water
a couple spuirts of dish soap

Mix all ingrediants in a bucket and apply with a spunge. DO NOT GET IN THE EYES. This would cause blindness. Let the dog soak for five min. or so and rinse with water. Repeat as many times as you need to.

This may lighten the hair color slightly although it didn't on my dog. I only did this process one time and the smell was gone. Works like a charm. I just hope I never have to do it again.

I realy don't know what the big deal with skunk smell is... it usualy wears off in a week or so. Maybe I just have a bad sence of smell  I do think its good to get on it right away before it sets, seems to go away faster. Usualy give mine a bath with regular dog shampoo right away if they got hit bad but other wise I just send them into our pond to rinse and they are good to go.

Mine must be slipping or they killed all the skunks that visit our orchard because they have not caught one for months now and just smell like dogs for a change.

Tomjr I agree I usually don't do anything to them either. This little pup got it bad though. It was one those that gags you when your riding behind him on your horse. I do have a bad sence of smell and am usually just hearing how bad they smell from everyone else. Not in this case though.
