Unbelievable first week

Unbelievable first week of Bait hunting at Laney's. Not just one but 3 bear over 300# No wonder I had $1800 in vet bills and very few trees last month.

Congratulation's, that is a great first week.That' rare, at least around here to get those guy's on the first week.

GEEEZ :I would have to agree with Spruce quite unusual to find 3 of those in the first week .Congrats . OUCH on those vet bills

Thats a good week Tobey. 8 bears for 13 hunters and three over 300, yup thats a good week.I just spoke to Wayne Plummer from Northern Pride Lodge in Kokadjo He said he had 9 hunters in camp last week.They killed 10 bears !!!! His wife took one too.He had one that went 330 , 2 others that were high 200s , thats dressed weights though.Live weights he figures he had at least 3 that were over 300. Sounds like its a heck of a year for bear hunting in Maine !!! Hope it keeps up for ya !

Ike, you're right, it sounds like the bait hunting is deadly this year.I'm not baiting any myself but everyone I have talked to says there are no natural foods this year. I have seen years where there was an abundance of natural foods and the baits hardly get hit.

Coyotes,bobcats,fish,Snowshoe hare,Turkeys there all weight in with guts. We weight our bears live weight also.Only thing i see dressed out usually is a deer around here.
