Houndsmen who own german short hair hound/crosses. Do they open up on game trails or loin track?

I've got a female German Shorthair And walker hound cross. And I'm not lying when I say she's one of the most bull-headed, loud-mouthed and good for absolutely nothing dog I've ever met. She's way more birdy than she is anything else, she babbles, she can't wlak in a straight line to save her life and she's very exciteable (although that's just a trait that was expected anyway)

It's too damn bad that I absolutely love her though. She'll never make a hound and that's okay. So she's staying as a pet.

But I would suggest that you don't make that cross. Granted, the only decent breeding backing her is from her dad (the shorthair) and the female was just some garbage female that wasn't worth a damn. but I didn't know what I was doing.

I've also talked to some other people about it including Tim Cook and he also said that they seem to be more birdy than houndy.

I had a short haired pointer type that worked well on bear, bobcats and lion but I never did know his breeding. Just found him on the mtn and since no one came forth looking for thier dog he stayed. When I got him he was almost dead and had a shock collar on him but no name tag. I had him for 14 years and he had to have been atleast 2 when we got him.

He didn't bark much while on trail and didn't bark alot on the tree either but he realy watched the critter and kept them from jumping out. He was very fast and seemed to be able to run day in and day out even up til the end when he got cancer and had to be put down, at around 16 years old.
I don't think it would be a good idea to try make a cross for hunting but if you had an accidental breeding you might end up with something worth feeding in the mix... I sure do like those free dogs that turn out ok
