did you have to add a spring leaf to keep that back end up with the weight of the dog box?

New heavy duty coil springs and air springs as helpers, but really did not need the air springs with the new springs. works like a charm.

How many dogs can you get in just the bottom box ?

I'm planning on building a small box for my jeep too. I was thinking I could get 4 dogs in a small box filling up the back of the jeep like the bottom box you have. Then Rig 2 dogs from the Hood or 2 from the top of the box again like your bottom box.

depending on the size of the dog and how far your traveling, I can put 4 of my dogs in with no problem. I can also carry 3 up top with no problem with a total of 7 in the 2 boxes

Mine started out just the opposite of yours, mine was a rag top and ended up with a hard top. I only use it for dog hunting so I took and cut the back off, built a alum. flat bed then built the boxes and added a back and top to the cab, since this pic. I mounted the spare to the top of the cab. Here's a pic. Mike
