One From the Other Day

Not the best video but it's ok. I decided to take this one. He's a decent size boar, nothing huge but not small either. This bear was a smart one thats for sure. Ive seen this done before but not as fast as this guy did it. This bear was started off a strike from inside the box by all 8 of the dogs. We hadn't even rigged them up yet when the box blew up. So we take out my dog Belle and my buddies best dog Ellen along with the 7 month old pup Stella out of my best dog and his other walker dog Solja Boy thats starting to figure things out. Well we end up turning out Ellen first as she has been on bears for years now, she starts the track (or so we think), ends up being the back track and my dog Belle took it for a second too. After we let those 2 go, Stella and Solja Boy, we realize that they are going the opposite way of the 2 older dogs. We start to think to ourselves "great this is going to be a long one", turns out Stella and Solja Boy are taking the right track and Belle catches on quick and they are getting away fast. They start it on a ridge and move down to the draw on the left. Soon after Ellen's coming up and catching up to those dogs after she figures it out. Granted this track was steaming hot so it wasnt such a bad deal. So we turn around on this road and go up the road that goes up to the draw we think they are working the track and they are smoking it. So we grab our other 4 dogs, my other 7 month old pup Moose, my other dog Tater, and my buddies other 2 dogs Pepper and Duke. We turn these dogs in about half way, which was about 1/4 mile maybe from where we started. They catch on and work their way further up the draw and we get right even with the dogs when it just goes silent and we start to hear them go again but they are working the track sidehill backwards downhill the way they came and then back down into the draw. It was a good thing Ellen was coming a little ways behind those other dogs because she caught on and then all you hear is dogs barking and all 8 of the dogs are right on this bear. Not much further down the draw the bear is treed up. All 8 dogs made it to the tree. It was a great day with a good friend. Here are a coule of pics, couldnt get allt he dogs, cameras battery ran out:

Thank you! Love to hear that from some of the older houndsmen. They are doing better and better, all of the dogs! Its nice to see those pups start to trail and tree (and by tree I mean stand there for a sec and run around and bark, haha). They arent treeing too well but I think a couple have it in them to be good tree dogs. Thats our packs problem, treeing and staying there, they will stay and bark but some of the younger ones havent got it yet.

The dog on the left in the second picture and the dog on the right in the 3rd pic are the dogs that started this bear

Yeah we caught that one on thursday. Shoot me a PM, i figured you knew hunter just wasnt sure which family member or friend you were. Im pretty much ready to go whenever, except I need 1 more collar and I just sent my Quick Track back to get fixed. I messed up and broke the damn thing. But I got a collar that should be here this week and I have to get one more. Maybe Ill swing by his work and talk to him too.
