MAYES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT K9 TEAM TRACKS DOWN LOST ELDERLY MAN:
Deputy Mike Reedand his Bloodhound Mara went to on 09/24/10 at 0600. At 1030 am He got a call for an 83 year old man with Alzheimer's that had walked away from his home. The trail was 3 hours old by the time Mike and Mara arrived on scene. Its was 80 degree's and hot dry. 15 mins into the search Mara cut the missing mans track 1/4 mile from his house and tool took Mike straight to the missing man who was lost in the forest another another 1/4 mile away. The man was tired and thirsty, but alive. Mike called for air support and lifted the man
out safe and sound.
Congratulations Deputy Mike Reed and K9 Mara for a job well done!. Mara was trained by the Canine Training Academy and purchased by the Mayes County Sheriff's Department in Oklahoma in April of 2010. Mike attended our April 2010 training class at the Canine Training Academy. It was Mara's very first deployment since the team grautated from the class in April. AWESOME!......
