Re: Separating Hounds??? Why??
I use to keep all my dogs in separate kennels. 20 years ago, I switched and now keep them in a one acre run. They all sleep in one 8’ long insulated box. No more foot soreness problems and zero barking. Most barking is from being bored in a tiny kennel. Wish I would have done this 40 years ago. I ru...

Re: Ranger vs can am defender vs Honda pioneer
Pioneer 1000. I hunt between 8000-12000 ft. Get the biggest machine you can afford. 500 or 700cc isn’t enough at higher elevations. My buddy uses a Ranger and has to replace the belt at least once or twice every season.

Re: New mounts
Yes, I use beetles. It seems euro mounts have become very popular. 5 years ago, I had one colony that could handle everything. This year, we set up five colonies. Here's some interesting stuff I learned a few years ago. I cleaned up a front foot of a lion and put it all back together. I then noticed...

New mounts
Our lion season just opened here in CO. Just finished up the last lion from this past March. Bear is from our camp up in AK above the Arctic circle. Good luck this season everyone. http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h445/FullCryHounds/Taxidermy/IMG_2781_zpsbbrzyplg.jpg http://i1110.photobucket.com/...

Colby, I made it myself. I couldn't believe the aftermarket ones. You had to remove the bumper to use the dump bed.

Re: Snow vs Bare ground
Here's an article I wrote a few years ago that may be the one your looking for. Mt. Lion Hunting with Hounds Hopefully some of this information will be helpful to some of you that are looking into a lion hunt. There is so much misinformation out there about lion hunting with hounds, it’s by far the ...

Re: Dog food
This is all a great read, guys. Thank you for sharing all of your years of experience. I recently started adding elk meat to my hound's diets (I have a friend who processes wild game, so I get a lot of scraps). My question is, how often are you feeding your animals? Once a day, or twice a day? I've...

Re: Dog food
Very good video JTG. Sums up exactly what I've been preaching for years. Dry food is not a good food for our dogs. People feed it because its convenient. Dogs are meat eaters.
Thanks for posting.

Re: Dog food
I've received a couple PMs asking how I get FREE meat. It's simple. If it's legal in your state, road kill is everywhere. I get most of my meat from two buddies that butcher cows and bison. They save the scraps which is about 40 lbs from one steer. You can also get free horses that are going to be p...

Re: Dog food
Dogs are meat eaters. Hounds especially need a high protein diet, not corn. You don't see mushers or any other hard working dogs feeding corn based feed to their dogs. You can get meat free. It just takes a bit more effort to prepare it. The only reason guys are feeding dry food to their dogs is bec...

Re: Montana Wolves
If wolves are coming to the sound of dogs treeing, then why in the world wouldn't you set them up by purposefully getting your dogs to tree when you know wolves are in the area then kill the dam things when they come in. You do that a few times and the rest will quickly associate treeing hounds with...
