Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

I hear you on both accounts Al. The greatest tool ever invented is the e-collar unless you don’t know how to use it. My bay dogs and catch dogs are all tone broke so that I can call them back if they get too close to a highway or somewhere that they shouldn’t be. I use to hunt alone a good bit, but ...

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

I understand about loving the hounds. They are my favorite as a whole. But…..man they can be trying, just like Queen.

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

Man ole Queen was as good selling people homing pigeons, lol. She sounds like a heck

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

You were lucky all the way around. Getting back what you paid for the one female and that person liking her was maybe the best luck you had. It’s funny how different dogs fit different people.

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

Yes sir you answered them. Don’t let off of the gas. I’m loving these stories. Did you ever hunt any other breeds besides hound?

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

The smarts of some animals is really amazing. Was there much difference in those two young dogs with the curr in them once they were really going, I’m talking style wise?

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

That’s a good story and makes a ton of sense. I didn’t realize it wasn’t legal to run the big cats at that time. Your logic was very sound indeed. It makes you feel good when dogs perform like you know them to.

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

I assume from this story and the others that you preferred bobs over Mt lion? I think
I know the answer, but why do you prefer it?
How old was that walker female when you got her?

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

Some people have harsh methods for sure. They usually aren’t the best dog people. Sometimes it isn’t what you think. He thought it was yote and it was a bear. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people take a pup out on its first hunt early because they thought they knew exactly what the hogs ...

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

It’s funny you mention this. SASS and I were just talking this morning about dogs trashing and methods of correcting that we have seen. My old Clyde dog trashed one time in all the years and it was a real half hearted attempt at that. I heard him bark twice and then say nothing for about 30 seconds ...

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

It amazes me how much technology we have today and how much more complicated life is. To me, in my opinion, the quality of life is lesser than back in your childhood. I’m sure the adults of that era said things like “what is this world coming to” back then. What would they think if they could see it...

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

You know Al, that was a simple life for sure, but it was a good and honest life. A life where priorities were straight and emphasis was put on the right things. It’s a different world all together. A simple life life is nearly unattainable I you are going to make it or teach your children how to get...

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

Al I remember a hunt that the fella claiming to have killed the 25 and I made. His name was Gordon. Just him and I and we turned dogs out on a place that was farmed and right on Little River. The dogs got bayed on the bank of the river. Just as we were getting to them, the hogs broke bay. Two or thr...

Re: Hunts I remember. Al Baldwin.

Man Al, I don’t know if it’s you and just have a lot in common or if all hunters share the same type of experiences. I had a friend that was a lot like George. I was just out of high school and lived in an area they called buttermilk flats. I was working for a rural water system at the time and most...
