Re: Caracal Lynx South Africa Hunt

Here is what a cape bushbuck looks like. My wife killed this nice ram on the last afternoon of our trip. We got lucky and the weather was very cool on the coast so the bushbuck came out in the middle of the day to sun themselves. Normally they are very nocturnal and you only find them on the edge of ...

Re: Caracal Lynx South Africa Hunt

The morning of the hunt Jeff picked me up about 5 am. We headed off to an area that a rancher had seen a caracal in about a week prior. Jeff dropped Tim (the dog handler) and myself off with 11 hounds to start hiking into a canyon to see if the dogs could find any scent while Jeff went to another ...

Caracal Lynx South Africa Hunt

Thought I would share a quick photo of a nice tom Caracal cat that I had the privilege of hunting while in South Africa. I hunted in the eastern cape area with Chappie Scott and Jeff Ford. Jeff Ford runs an outfit called lynx safaris and has some of the best caracal and jackal hounds in Africa. Ill ...

Re: Lost Hound in Ruidoso, NM

Yeah that would be me. That is the main animal I would like to hunt while I am over there. The trip is really for my wife she is probably going to do most of the shooting but I really want to get a caracal. I got into hounds when I was about 16 after going over there and hunting with Chappie and ...

Bear from The Fall

Early this winter was out with the terriers looking for a lion and ended up trailing this good bear up. My male jag treed this one on his own as the rest of the pack went backwards first. It looks like there was snow but where we started it was more of a hard frost on the trees from the fog the ...

Re: cherry eye

She should not cut it out as that is a gland that produces a portion of the tear film over the eye. She should perform a procedure to tuck it back in place and tack it down. If you cut it out your dog will have an increased chance of developing Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS) or extreme dry eye ...

Re: cat bites

My advice is if your dog gets bit or scratched by a lion to clip the hair around the wound flush any puncture wounds with a very dilute nolvasan and distilled water solution and give 24-48 hours of clavamox or augmentin as your antibiotic immeadeatley when you get home. Clavamox is expensive but one ...

NM Tom

Here is a photo of a Tom Lion my brother and I caught the other day. The jagdterriers ended up bluffing up this good southern NM tom after a couple of miles trailing through some nasty boulder piles. I forgot the camera in the truck so no pictures until we got it hauled out.

Re: Jagds on bobcats?

I've got some decent Jagds and will probably be having some pups in the near future. Also got a litter of some cross bred Jagds coming in 60 some days. They should be pretty gamey dogs.
