Re: Running dogs that tree
Bone2, keep looking they are out there, for sure. There are do it all cold nosed tree bred dogs that can flat wheel down a track.

Let's see some fur!
What are you guys doing with your bobcat pelts? Has anybody made any hats or gloves or maybe a bed spread? Would like to see some different ideas.

Bobcat Rut
I have seen some of you guys on here talk about a bobcat rut, what is it that changes when they rut, if they "rut" ? Do you see lots of pairS? Long walking/traveling toms?
I've always read and been told that bobcats can breed a few times a year, or when ever a female comes in heat, like a barn cat ...

Re: Hounds Locating Cats
One of the best bobcat dogs I ever owned was also better than fair on bear. the one thing I always had to do every year with him is after running bear all summer, I would have to take him to the cat woods by himself for 1 or 2 bobcat races to get all the bear knocked out of his system. Then he ...

Re: garmin 220 and dc40 collar issues?
The newest update for the 220s better supports the DC 40s, that's one of the reasons for the update. I would do that if you haven't. What makes me wonder is that this issue just popped up.

Re: Best log book/journal ?
This is a good idea. I've kept a log for the last 3 seasons with a light description of the cat, date and where it was taken. Normally can recall what all happened with that, along with some video clips and pictures. Sure helps bring light to things going back. Might try getting more into detail ...

Re: Ol' Roy
Sorry to hear of your loss, Phil. It's hard not to have a little trepidation turning the dogs out into wolf country anymore.
Those are some really nice looking cats BTW!

Re: Dogs that open on dogs
She's pretty mature for her age. What worried me is I've seen her dad do that same thing, I don't want her doing it. I think she's going to be quite a dog when she gets lined out right. She can darn sure run a track.

Re: Dogs that open on dogs
I thinks she's around 7 months old. She's not a cull at that age, I don't believe in culling dogs to young unless it is just completely and obviously worthless. I think I can help her thru this. I started today with a light correction and she shut her mouth. I'm being careful here to not over ...

Re: Dogs that open on dogs
Interesting. I am surprised no one has stirred the pot yet. So I will. Why does it matter if it doesn't affects the dogs ability to catch and your older dogs know better than to honor it?
Well, I know i hate it, maybe somebody else can better explain it but I think it causes delay of game if dogs ...

Re: Dogs that open on and run dogs
No. Got a young dog that will take off barking on another dogs track, no cat scent at all, just hound dog. Come hunt time I don't think I want that going on.
