Re: New Garmin Tracking/Shocking System
I leave mine on the 2.5 second update and it shows treed. Actually it shows treed a little too quick I think. It seems like my dogs don't have to be still for very long and it shows treed. I have my point alert turned off and my treed alert set on vibrate.

Re: why so many
I thought the best pack for bobcats was a single pack. I use to have way more success on bobcats when I just ran one dog. But thats pretty tough to do unless you hunt by yourself and only own one dog. Ha!

Re: ALL FEMALES OR ALL MALES???
I usually only have 2 dogs at any given time maybe 3 occasionally, so I have never really had any issues with the dogs not getting along. I have had intact males together and seperate sex together, and lately just 2 intact females. They run loose in about a .5 acre pen with 3 goats. Ha! They all ...

Re: Garmin Alpha ya and nay?
I give it a Ya! I have had my unit for 5 months now and I am very glad that I bought it. At first I just got the one collar with the unit. I have one older female that is well seasoned and have never ran a e-collar on her but I have one of her offsprings that seems to get excited about anything that ...

Re: New Garmin Tracking/Shocking System
I bought my alpha system mid december 2012. The main reason I bought this system was because of one dog. My 2.5 year old female[aka "Trashy Bastard"] I have had a few dogs over the past 20 years and they have all had there share of faults but nothing I couldn't deal with. I have never been a big fan ...

Re: HOOD RUG
Just make your own. Used hood at a salvage yard $40. Good piece of heavy duty carpet about $10. Misc. sheet metal screws, eyebolts, chain and hooks $20. About and hour of labor and you have a fairly descent hoodmat.

I can probably get you out sometime. I don't get out as much as I use to but I'm sure we can get your dog a cat to smell sometime this winter.

Re: Blueticks for chasing bobcats
I think speed is a good quality to have in a bobcat dog. And I think that a bobcat dog also needs to be very smart. But I think that the main quality a bobcat dog must possess is persistance. He has to be relentless and never quit pushing the track forward. I realize it takes a different type of dog ...

Re: Blueticks for chasing bobcats
I've had very good luck catching bobcats with blueticks. This is in snow though. I don't know how they would do on dry ground. I also seem to have better luck with just one dog. I always read about guys running bobcats with 2 or 3 hounds and being successful. But mine just don't seem to hunt as well ...

Re: Got to witness something awesome
Thats a good story. I found a fish up in a tree onetime when I was out coonhunting. I always wondered if a cat drug it up there or a coon. Ross

Re: trouble with mule and goats
Well I put a divider between the goats and the mule. The goats can get in with the mule if they want but the mule can't get to the goats. I am going to give it a few days and see how things go. I really hope they can get along. This mule is just the right size for me and she seems to be put together ...

trouble with mule and goats
Hey guys I am desperate for some good mule advise. I had always been wanting to get a mule and finally did. She is a 5 year old molly that is broke to ride supposedly but I haven't rode her yet. I just got her yesterday but I am already running into a little problem. I have two pack goats that have ...

Re: open or silent
I had a little female bluetick that was a real good cat dog. I never was close enough to her to tell what she did when she put up a cat, but on coon she would open right away on a track and bawl all the way to the tree. But if it was a real tough chase like in a cornfield or cattails you could ...
