Re: TOM LIONS NOT SCRAPING,WHAT'S UP?
I know this is a old thread but here goes. I lived in Moab for seven years. The area gets hunted hard hence no mature Toms. I caught two in seven years. One was collared in Montrose Colorado. I never saw a scrape one. I ride a lot of country mule back. I don’t believe a mature Tom was given a chance...

Re: Wyo mountain curs
I had a male Kemmer cur years ago. He was one of the best snow and dry ground lion and bear dogs I have ever owned. Never found one quite like him since.

Re: Starting a Cur vs Hound
I have run both for many years. I love traits of both, They are way not hounds. Talk to someone that has had them for years go from there.

Re: Running lions with one dog????
Lost my best lion dog two years ago, big tom came down and killed her after she had split off and caught him on her own. I walked in on him he had torn her chest out and was eating her liver. Mikes right works till it doesn't.

Re: TOM LIONS NOT SCRAPING,WHAT'S UP?
I have been hunting an area where quotas are set high and never met. It is a predator removal unit. The population is replinished by lions from Colorado. Almost every lion that crosses into the state is removed every year. I brought this up at a regional advisory committee meeting. Utah is fine with...

Re: 45-70 ammunition selection for bear
Hornady leverevolution 325 grain has put everything down I have shot with it from elk to bear. Very accurate clover leaf at 100 yards. I watch for it to go on sale then stock up. I have been shooting a 45/70 since 1984 used to reload all of my own ammo, Hornady load took care of that hobby.

Re: Curs not cold nosed enough?
I have been at it since 1980. The good curs I have had were as hard running on a track as any of my hounds. I have had old strain tan't hounds walkers redbone etc. I have had some curs that did not work out just as in any breed. Tried crossing curs and hounds. That never worked out lost the best in ...

Re: Curs not cold nosed enough?
I have had a cur in my pack for years. Smaller Kemmer was the last one to ever quit, bear or lion he was a large reason for the success I had. I have a Clark bred leopard right now he does not have a stop button he goes all the time. The curs mixed with my big blueticks have been a winning combinati...
