Re: Black gold vs sportsmix
I feed sportsmix to like the blue bag. Been feeding black bag during summer found them craving it more since weather changing think it could be heat combined with fat % in black bag. I to used blue last winter liked it a lot, but wunder if I shouldn't turn that around to blue summer black winter ...

Re: Big day with the dogs
Thanks for the reply an never would have thought of that but it makes sense. Are lynx tougher to catch than bobs? or about the same. I have a female that has trained a few good bobcat dogs an that is what I had to do is leave her home so they could make that finale step an become start to finish on ...

Re: ? plott/ running dog cross pups
I have a plott redbone cross male that i run with a male running walker . I would like to know if you are planning a cross. Because i sure wish one or the other of my hounds were female. I need a little more tree in the walker an a little more chase speed in the plot.

Re: Trap-Call-Hounds
Thanks for the input I thought trappers have to out do hounds when trapped hard. I just wish some of the guys around here would not use snares, cross boundries that have been established for years and just not be so damn gready. I have heard of guys that life trap and still harvest females and ...

Trap-Call-Hounds
dwalton touched on something in another thread that I found interesting. In my state trappers out catch both callers and houndmen put together. Just interested in what goes on in other states. Fur prices are high and alot of new people trap every year it seems the old trappers are even lying about ...

Re: I hate porcupines
I found that using athletic tape to tape the front legs together and the back legs together and then the mouth shut when you can makes pulling quills alot easier. Done it a time or two-many.

Re: Any thoughts on back tracking.
Hardest track to run in snow in my opinion, is an old track made on snow that is completely melted away.(could be a tie between that and fluffy dry snow). Now not talking about a hot track, just a cold track that does not touch ground just snow. It seems that if the dog gets better at running in ...

I do not know about New Mexico but in some states you can have bobs as pets. I know in South Dakota you can.

Re: fox hunting
Has what I thought was a bob race right out my backdoor was great to listen and watch on the garmin it was a circle race and It went a little down and started to circle again . I could have swore by the garmin that it was a bob but I saw the red fox running 50 to 75 yds ahead of the hounds did not ...

Re: Comments on Creek Casting for bobcats
Get out and cast. The only thing is if a guy can try to stay high and to a flank of the dogs on the creek bank then you might see how or where the cat is sneaking off too some times its back where you came from and some times its going out ahead alot of times it just gets higher and watchs the ...

Re: Type of hounds in Northern states
Well that makes me fill a little better. The smart cats seem to run to their favorite get away place and start pulling some tricks that could put any dogs to shame, I was just thinking if a guy could catch them before they got to those areas it would be nice. But can't complain we do tree a fair ...

Re: Type of hounds in Northern states
Me and a friend of mine were talking about that today. We thought that if a guy could get a running dog say about 1to2 years of age that has ran bobs with older dogs of the same type take it north say May or June let it get used to weather and terrain in the summer come winter it should be used to ...

Re: Type of hounds in Northern states
Very good information men, but my question still lies unanswered is their anyone who has tried it if not Dewey how would you go about it if you lived where I live and wanted to give something new a try? We catch bobcats quite a bit but not as consistantly as I think we can. We seem to wait for new ...
