Re: Fox tail grass
I work in one of the worst areas in the state for foxtails. 95% of our buisness in the summer is foxtails... I have seen foxtail abscesses in EVERY part of a dog/cats body. Seen them kill dogs going into there heart, lungs, and stomach cavity. Seen them in eyes, ears, salvary glands, tonsil cryps, penis, vulva, anal glands... Seen it all!

Re: Fox tail grass
I've had three dogs now end up with a large abscess that turned out to be cheet grass seeds. Two of them formed trying to come out of the back hips, and one was on the side. The vet had to make an incision to remove the grass seed on all three occasions. They said it is fairly common for dogs to inhale the sharp seeds through their nose and into the lungs where it continues to work it's way through the body. Bird dogs and hounds are the most common breeds they see with this. Some circumstances can end up killing the dog, but the majority will work their way out.

She had an abscess by her kidney, after a surgery and a week of TLC she has a clean bill of health with a steep vet bill.
