Stub tail

So one of my bitches gave birth to 14 pups last night they are running walker with some July. Anyways one was born with a stub tail,almost no tail at all. Thought this was odd. I have never heard of it myself in running dogs.just curious what others have for thoughts ? My first thought was maybe I should outcross more often lol and after thinking more I think it's just an abnormality?
