Lost voice

Postby TomJr » Sun Oct 08, 2017 12:14 am

Dog lost his voice after keeping a bear up at tree over night. Its been more than 2 weeks now and he is still almost silent on his trailing bark now. His treed bark is close to what it was before.

Has anyone else dealt with this and did the voice recover over time?

You have some hope---
a few years ago the Freckles female I had barked herself out to a whisper. I took her to a vet.. he told me it might take 6 months-- he said " little old ladies regularly have the vocal cords removed from their dogs and they grow back again in about 6 months"
well in about 4 months Freckles was back to normal and never lost her voice again.

Good to know. He opens his mouth and tries but all that comes out most of the time is a squeak. But he does still have some of the deeper bawl type sounds. I think he should rest his voice but how to tell him that...
