Neutering males without a vet

Postby Taylor » Sun Jun 14, 2020 3:44 pm

Is there anyone out there neutering there own males without the vet? Just wondering what the process is and any precautions. I have access to the pain killer, antibiotics, and shots required to sedate the dog. Thanks!

I was going to say a wedding ring but then noticed you were talking dogs. [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Should be some guys who have done it without a vet from out west. Seems more common out that

Very similar to cattle, one small slit pull each one out and cut off. Spray with vetricin and then blue kote for 6 days. Give a shot of penicillin for 3 days or oral antibiotics for 5. Limit activity for 10. If you can sedate you could cauterize the tubes.

Just don't try to band them like cattle. Yes this has really happened and yes it has gone horribly, horribly wrong.
