Wild Clover Bred Walker Stud in Northern California

Postby Redwood Coonhounds » Wed Jan 19, 2011 9:39 pm

Gamble has been used on Bear, Coon and Fox. He's very cold nosed, runs to catch, and drives a good and bad track with authority, with a quick honest open mouth on track. Huge bawl mouth on track, great locate/changeover and settles into a hard chop on tree. Independent, deep, hard hunting dog. Alone or with company matters not to him. Lock down, one-bark, on the wood, pressure treedog. Will rig coon, bear and fox. This dog will get into any type of country in a hurry. Water, briars, thick brush, bluffs. He's a tough dog. He's also not afraid to get up close and personal, plenty of heart and grit. He's got above average speed for a Walker (fast, but not the fastest) and has a ton of endurance. He can go non-stop, day after day, everyday. He's around 60 lbs in shape, lots of leg, lungs, and awesome feet (never a sore foot in his life) He's also got a nice thick coat that does him well in the cold, briars and brush. He's got as good of a temperament as you can find. Laid back, quiet, easy handling, and not a mean bone or an ill hair on his body. I never need a leash, he minds excellent and doesn't mess with trash. He started early, was running and treeing at 7 months old, and catching his own game by 10 months old. His Father is a NITECH Coondog that was converted over to Bear/Lion in Montana, and his Mother is a Lion/Catdog in Utah. Gamble has many related dogs here in the West that are excellent Big Game Hounds.

He is already a Nite Hunt Champion, Water Race Champion, Grand Field Trial Champion, Conformation Champion, a Grand Show Champion and has qualified every year for the World Show.

Gamble will be bred to one of my personal females in the Spring of 2012. Bear season starts in a week. Once general deer season closes I won't mind traveling to show him in the woods.

It has been a while since I put this up.
Gamble is now over 3.5 years old. He is one of my best dogs to date.

I have three 10 month old pups out of him and they are naturals, as well as reports I am getting back on the others. He's throwing all of his drive, looks, mouth, nose and brains in his pups. There were 10 puppies total out of 2 different bitches, the oldest pups being 10 months old, and he has seemingly dominated both crosses.

I know a lot of people that had beardogs and didn't do much "coon hunting" are soon to be looking for a new hobby. This dog is a COONDOG by all deffinition. He's also a bear and FOX dog. He is a true multi purpose dog. If your looking to breed to something to get some coon and fox dogs or if your looking for cold nosed, tough, big game dogs, don't overlook him as a stud.

7 out of 10 puppies seem to be doing awesome so far. The others I have somewhat lost contact with/haven't had anything done with them.

Here are my two, Female/Male

The male Frosty at 11 months old on a coon (never seen a trainer)

I should be crossing Gamble on my best old female, Aspen, in a few weeks. Pups will be due around late October. I have been waiting to make this cross for about 4 years now. I will most likely be keeping ALL FEMALE pups (she has small litters) I am looking to replace Aspen with a female out of this litter, as she is almost 7 years old. I lost her only daughter this past bear season. But I am still taking names for people interested in MALE pups. I guarantee these pups to make excellent cold nosed, track driving, accurate locating, hard treeing, level headed, game catchers. They will work on ANY species of game they are trained to hunt. Both parents can catch whatever they are turned out on. I am asking $600 per pup. I will ship.

You guys that want to know what true competition night hunt dogs are like that also catch the chit out of anything their owner decides to chase. One might better take a look at these.

I thought long and hard before I voiced my opinion on this subject. And decided to put my two cents on this topic here, as one that actually knows. Instead of just someone that reads magazines. Then tells others what competition hounds are all about. When in reality the descriptions and adjectives being used in advertisements, some draw there own conclusion as to what they even mean. And reality is some are clueless.

I have not hunted with Cassandra's dogs. But have logged a few miles behind the foundation of them. And there are also other strains with in the tree hound competition breeds. That if a person actually knew what the meaning of Pressure tree and track dog, independent hound and others. Hunters would be saying, boy I would give my right arm to own what is being described. Good luck with them Cassandra, Just thought I would let others know the truth. That there is really very little difference in good ones no matter the package they are wrapped in.

Take care, Willie

Thanks Willie. I have taken the time an done the hunting, and homework. They work the best for me, and I hope to improve with every generation. I strive for the very best "all around" versitile dogs. I might not go out an catch every single bear, coon or fox that I've ever turned out on. But I do expect to, and the dogs rarely let me down.
