Our first event is less than 2 weeks away.

Anyone coming from out of State that plans on hunting needs to make sure they have a CA out of state HUNTING LICENSE.

Our April event is a Mini Slam and World Hunt/Show Qualifying event. So Nite Ch rules apply and the top 4 cast winners recieve 1st place wins. We will have nice Plaques for the High Scoring dog. The winners also win Money! The rest of our hunts are poorboy hunts, no awards given. So if you want some hardware, better plan on hunting in April.

We have also decided because of cost, we are no longer doing Walker Sectionals. We've been getting fewer and fewer people to coming to participate, and for the amount of work, its just not worth all the fees to the TWB&FA. We've had no one come forward and suggest any other breed Sectionals. So our May event will just be a standard UKC event.

Brady,

Just cause you have gone to other states and Coon hunted doesn't mean you did it legally. Ca DFG states that to trail or hunt a fur bearing animal in our state of California, you need a current Hunting License. Besides a non resident hunting license for two days is $45. So is it really that big of a deal to stay legal?

Copied right from DFG.ca.gov

2011 - 2012 California Hunting Entitlements

Valid JULY 1, 2011 through JUNE 30, 2012

Fish and Game Code Section 70 defines "Resident" as any person who has resided continuously in the State of California for six months or more immediately prior to the date of their application for a license or permit, any person on active military duty with the Armed Forces of the United States or auxiliary branch thereof, or any person enrolled in the Job Corps established pursuant to Section 2883 of Title 29 of the United States Code.

Fish and Game Code Section 86 defines "Take" as hunt, pursue, catch, capture, or kill, or attempt to hunt, pursue, catch, capture or kill.

Can anyone explain the rules and how these night hunts go? I am new to coon hunting and i have two younger dogs that i want to take to the night hunts this weekend? I usually hunt both at the same time with my father in law. Will have to hunt each dog on it's own one at a time by myself or can me and my father in law hunt together. Do i have to cast them out. As much info as you can give me would be nice.

They MUST be Permanantly Registered with UKC. You can also only handle one at a time. If you have someone who can handle another dog for you you can enter more than one, but odds are they won't be drawn out in a cast together (hunted seperate)

You basically cast them out, and your not allowed to talk to them, touch them, or shock them, track them, nothing. They do what they do, and there is a system of points to determine a winner based on striking and treeing with as little mistakes as possible. Only time you can interact with the dogs is when you get them off a tree and then recast them. It is also just for UKC "Points" toward a title, you cannot kill any coons during a nite hunt.
