Well shoot, how big is his range? Are you just hitting the outer fringe of it? Here in Nv we’re able to run entire ranges by backing out to the valley and driving up or down the valley to the next road or hike able canyon. Granted our ranges can be 20 plus miles long and 5-10 miles wide.

He hasn’t came through there since early December, access is very limited due to closure’s for elk winter range.

Got home last night from a 2.5 day hunt. Ran something both days but can neither confirm nor deny if it was trash…
Yesterday afternoon I cut a track and walked it out. The ground was completely sand or silt depending on where it walked. But the dogs could smell it just enough to whine and be frustrated. Worked it for a mile and a half until I lost it in a draw when we got into a lava flow. Found a metric shit ton of scratches and a rotten horse in there too. Definitely lion killed. Hiked 10 miles in the snow with way too much gained in elevation over two days. But it was a good trip!

It was a mustang, there just might be as many mustangs as there are cattle up here in Northern NV. The lions are rough on them too. I see lots of bones from lion kills.

Well I had an eventful last 7 days. Became sick while hunting, went home. Sat around for a day but the 2nd I started doing shit around the house. Realigned the front end on my truck, replaced the water filters for the house, put a honda 11 horse back together and got it to run, cleaned the garage some, loaded up some special turkey loads for my shotgun and idk what else. Hunted Monday and trailed a tom in the dirt, for a few miles before the dogs just couldn’t trail him anymore, at around 2:30-3:00. The dogs did great though! The track was from the evening before. Now I’m back at work and ready to be back home lol.

Sounds like a pretty good week! Weather man is calling for a pretty big storm starting Saturday and not quitting till Tuesday sometime, predicting 12 inches in the valley but I’m doubtful it was 65 degrees yesterday.

It was definitely better than others that I’ve had! My girls asked me to take them hunting this weekend so I’ll be taking them out on Sunday and looking for some snow to play in. My youngest was so darn cute when she asked to go. I was walking out of the house when she came running up to me. She said Umm daddy I have a question! Do you think maybe you can take me and Rey Rey hunting tomorrow? My little heart just melted and I said I can’t take them tomorrow because they had school, but I can take them on Sunday!

No sir! I talked to the old lady and she doesn’t have any plans so I told her I’ll be taking the girls hunting.

A 21 yo kid was killed by a lion today. I drove less than 10 miles from there at 11:30am heading home and he was attacked around 1:15pm today.

That’s a shame for sure! Sad that would happen to anyone but such a young man cut down before he got to live his best life. Hopefully some day they will see they need to get their lion population in check.

Bad deal. Sounds like the deputies were pretty dang smart. They fired warning shots, how about kill it. It’s a no brainer as to what happened and and wouldn’t have taken any more time or ammo to do.
