***Wyoming Federation of Houndsmen Meeting***
1pm
Saturday
September 3
Casper, Wyoming
Hampton Inn off Poplar exit
We recently held a meeting in Gillette, Wy with quite a few houndsmen from this region. It was decided that we should work toward getting formally organized and setting ourselves up to better represent the houndsmen of this state.
At the initial meeting, we elected a president, vp and secretary/treasurer. We also came to a consensus on what issues are the most pressing for us as a group. It was decided that we needed to try and have another meeting with as many houndsmen from around the state to get as many people on board as possible.
After this next meeting, several of us will be meeting with reps from the WY G&F as well as legislators to start drafting language that will give the G&F Commission the authority they need to set more specific seasons and requirements surrounding the issues houndsmen have been facing while hunting mountain lions. We will also be working to include language that will specifically recognize hunting with hounds as part of this state's history and heritage as well as a valuable wildlife management resource.
There is going to be alot of country to cover in this meeting and it important that we have as many houndsmen there as possible. The only way we can protect our sport and help it grow is to attend the meetings and let our voices be heard.
If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to give me a call.
Tex

Re: Saturday, Sept. 3
There is quite a bit that has to be done to help protect and promote our sport in this state. We have to get the ball rolling in order to get some things before the legislature and trying to get a bunch of houndsmen together on any given date is like herding cats toward a bathtub.
Hopefully we will see quite a few houndsmen from around the state on Saturday.
