We would love to see a group get it back together!! However, the houndsman around here are loners!! We don't do the night hunt deal because we don't have papered dogs. I think we all need to band together and fight for a commen goal, to protect our hunting hertiage.

I apologize for the earlier comment that was short and off subject, i was distracted. I am all up for helping get a hound club up and running in wyoming. I do not currently have any hounds and haven't hunted/trained them either. I am really anxious to start though, and i will do all i can to help out. It seems like evdrybody in this state that is interested in this is kind of spread out, but i'm sure we can make it happen.

We went to a open hound gathering two years ago in Sheridan... Had fun and never heard from those boys again. I think it would be great to put together a "Gathering" of some sort. Have some drags and such. I am due to have our second child anyday :o so I would help asap. I thought Yellowtail would be a cool place to meet.

I am going to a field trial this weekend put on by South Dakota Houndsmena Assoc. They do a good job, just open drags, swims, tree contest etc. Not UKC sanctioned, so you don't get the b.s. It would be good to do something similar here in Wyoming as a start to get guys together and get a plan started.

bowhound, they used to do them here in Sheridan years ago and my ex-husband did one in Kaycee about 5 years ago. It is not hard to put on if you get enough people to turn out. We are blessed here we can have access to a lot of public land and even a great deal of private if you know who to talk to. Like I said if you lads are serious I will do what I can to help out. Maybe we should find out where everyone is located that is interested and go from there. I am sure there are still a few Sheridan lads that would be up for it. Even if we don't do a field trail straight away we could arrange a meeting and throw some ideas out and see what sticks.

We are in Cody, I know a few houndsmen that we could gather up. As for meeting, I think that would be a great idea... any ideas for a mid-way point?? Or should a few of us get an open deal going and have a meeting at that time? You would have everyone in one place?

MKT,
I suggest maybe trying to meet once a month and we can rotate meeting places so those that can't make it to one might be able to meet at another. Like one month we meet somewhere in Sheridan county and then Park county, and then Hot Springs or where ever. No particular order I just know that is were some of us call home. Each month we can discuss different topics and issues of interest. Maybe if we can get organized we can even have field trials and gets some petitons going to try to bring legal hunting of bear with hounds in WY or a year round persuit of lion. Things like that would be good for Wyoming houndsmen to work together on.

OB,
You have my number and I am sure we can hash out some sort of plan here. I am not going to be working after the 12th so I should be available anytime after that if you lads want to give me a ring. I know all the wardens here at the Sheridan regional office and know who to contact about petitions regaurding the bear season and what not. I may not have any hounds left, but getting hurt has not stopped me from helping where I can..... you know that. How is that pretty little red one doing?
