SB 5356 is a companion bill to HB1124. It has no amendments on it. It would make the pilot program permanent. And allow the dept to hunt cougars in an area if the population exceeds the depts allowable threshhold.

Senate bill came out of committee also..
Substitute Bill : Looks like the Guides knocked the Bill back a couple, personally I don't want the Guiding, I think it could go back to Hound guys only and I would be fine with it. What happened was they didn't like the fact that some guides are labeling this as a trophy hunt and so they Scaled it back down making it a continuation of the pilot by extending it 5 years..

Here is the current Senate bill as it comes out of commitee, We need to get on the horn with our Senators and really ask them to make this Program Permanent and to support the HOUSE Bill..

No dogs for hire. (Not able to take money for guiding cougars with dogs)
The department must Summarize and Report the results and report to legislation And ask them to continue the program..

Not exactly a perfect deal, Hopefully we can get them to do better..

It passed yesterday with 37 yays and 11 nays! Its definately a step in the right direction, thank you to all of you that emailed or called your representative

Was anyone at the committee meeting today? I was wondering if anyone had any info on what happened?

I watched it. It was public Input. The Anti's are starting to try and organize. but I think they are losing Credibility.

Would be good to Send in your comments to the committe members again showing support for this.

I just recieved an email from one of the representatives here in Mason county and this is what was said: "The bill did not make it out of the rules committee before the cutoff so will most likely not see further action this session."

Which Bill are we talking about The HB will die.. This is the Senate Bill and it was just voted on Yesterday, I assume they just got it into rules committee, or it's on the house floor.

My guess is they are talking about the HB. Which That one is pretty much Dead.

Right, HB 1124 is dead, SB-5356 is the revised bill. Its supposed to go to the the floor for a vote. It has to make it by the 25. If I'm not mistaken. The 25 is the end of session, unless it gets extended.

When I contaced her I said it was the SB bill. I know the HB is now longer around, so Im not sure what she was talking about? I understood it as it goes to the house floor now as well.
