Anyone try hunting hogs with their bear hounds? How did you do?

did it alot spent a lot of time in the vet bear dogs have no respect for a hog dont turn a pack loose try one or two at a time

This person has given you very sound advise. Generally, when a bear dog looks at a boar hog weighing around 200 #'s, it is not near as big and hairy as a bear. By past experience, the dog feels it can get a mouthful because it feels it is not that big. A nasty boar will send them to the vet or the after life real quick. Good post Fox Hunter.

on the flip side a hog dog can usually make a bear dog

I run all my dogs on bear and hogs and they do pretty good on both.

Im in the Texas Hill country, and i take my hog dogs to NM. and run bear with them every Fall. They do great and will put a bear up a tree. Then they quit when the fight is over, luckily I have ! dog out of my pack that will tree. the rest just kindof look up and whine.
