We have an opportunity to stop the WDFW's Adopted Wolf Plan in its tracks. Please read the text of HB 2214:

This bill is open to a public hearing in front of the committee at 12 on Jan 10th, Tuesday, in the John L. O'Brien Building, House Hearing Room A. If the committee approves the bill, it will move to the legislature for a vote. The bill basically says that the WDFW has to publicly justify listing an animal as endangered and/or protected if the federal government has delisted it for protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Attend the hearing if you can and speak on behalf of the bill. In lieu of that, write to the committee members through their websites NOW, and voice your support for the bill.

There are two ways to contact the committee members. One is to email individually through their websites, or email them all at once.

The following legislators are the members of the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources with links to their contact page. Go there and send them an email telling them you want this bill to go forward. If the person to whom you're writing isn't in your district, an error message will come up when you enter your address. Select the green option that says "...Send it anyway.":

I am in support of HB 2214, specifically the New Section 3, and feel that our WDFW needs to follow the guidelines set by our federal government when listing animals as endangered or protected in Washington State, or be able to publicly justify with scientific fact their reason(s) for listing and/or protecting an animal not protected under the Endangered Species Act.

If the WDFW is able to list animals, at will, as endangered or protected when these animals have been delisted or do not receive protection under the ESA, the WDFW then has the power to negatively affect individuals, communities, and entire industries by those unnecessary listings. Our citizens, businesses, and fragile economy are at risk from such arbitrary restriction.

Please move this bill to come before our legislature and to a vote of our representatives and senators.

My representative emailed me back, strongly supporting this bill. Hopefully the other reps will support it also.

This from a guy who attended today's meeting:

just got home from the meeting. I feel like we have a better than average chance to win this. Of course the Wildlife Program got a half hour to review the plan for all attendees. The same person also gave a negative testimony. The next person was a Representative that gave Pro-pass testimony, dodn't get his name clearly but he was an eastsider. Then myself, fishinmike, Jack Fields(Cattlemans Association) and another person that Represented Hunters Heritage gave Pro-pass testimony. Mark Pigeon was there but had to leave because his wife was re-hospitableized. Next came 4 no-pass testimonys, followed by 4 more that were 2 pass and 2 no-pass. that was it.

Total testimonies: 14
6 no pass
8 pass

On the receiving end of things, several of the committee members asked some very pointed (pro-pass) type of questions and did not get what I would recognize as mind changing questions. Many comments from the committee suggested that regionalized de-listing had been suggested all along and ignored. One of the Committee (rep) was definately concerned that his eastside district could have 14 BPs while another region(zone) had none...

I think it is leaning our way, I am sure the e-mails have been a very positive influence. I also saw that at least 4 of the no pass folks were touchy-feely whiners without any facts or data....

I'm going to try and get a dialog going with him, He's my representative also. I don't think ignoring the problem is going to help. Wolves are coming to the westside whether we like it or not.

why cant we find out sooner about things like this, it doesnt get posted until the day before the committee meets... like its been said before, we need to stick together on these kind of issues, how can we get the info out sooner????

I agree 100% plott/walker! I attended and spoke on behave of the Cattlemen last year in Olympia and I was the only houndmen there. We need to get organized and start working to get some of our hunting back.
