Bear Shepherding Permits

Post by catdog360 »

NOw is the time to act in Washington. In todays Seattle Times there is an article on the game dept. pursueing black bears to scare them away from people. The want more state money to get more dogs to harrass more bears. As we know money talks in Washington State to our lovely Gov. Now is time to push for a Bear Shepherding permit, that the game dept. has already said works extremely well. They said that they want more dogs for this program because the dogs frighten the bears so much that they rarely come back in to contact with humans. I don't know about you but I would pay $150 for a "Public Safety Bear Shepherding Permit". Take that money times 500 to 900 permitties and the state would make money. wouldn't have to buy anymore $10,000 dollar dogs. We as houndsmen and women will pay to do it , go to a class on effectively frightn' bears, and vow to not have any firearms on our persons while "Shepherding" bears , or face a huge fine or what ever would make the gameys happy. It may not be bear hunting , but the houndsmen would once again be the savours to the public from these predators. MIC

Catdog360 the bears they run with dogs are the ones that you see on the news like in bellevue and seattle and such. they only have two trained dogs right now and they are not "run to catch" dogs like our hounds are. they run the bear for a couple hundred feet or so and then come back. you couldnt turn a pack of bear dogs loose in the city it probally wouldnt go over to good.they dont use them out in the woods where we would like to do it. they also use these dogs in places like yellowstone to run them out of the campsites. good idea you had, but probally wouldnt work for how and where they use those type of dogs.
