He shivered with the cold, as he stumbled to his knee's, he was gave out. He put his hands on his knees, and shook, trying to get the cold to leave him alone. He put his hands out in front of him and could see that they were shaking and bright red, he barely had any feeling in his feet which he knew was bad. He had no idea where he was, or how far he had came, he didn't even know if it was even midnight, or an hour to daylight. All he could see was snow, trees, and more trees that covered the edge of the creek.
That is when he heard it, just barely in hearing range, he could hear the long throaty bawl of Earl's saying he was treed. He pushed himself to his feet, only to fall back to his knees. He had no more strength left in him, he could feel his legs quivering with exhaustion. He picked his head up and laid it on a snow covered log, the pain from the searing cold was almost a relief. He strained his ears, listening, there it was the slow long bawl, and again, and again, a slow steady rhythm of treed, not moving, Earl had treed his prey at last, Jimmy could hear the excitement that came with the accomplishment in Earl's bawl.
He felt his lip stretch themselves into a grin, he grabbed a nearby branch and pulled himself to his feet, carefully he took a slow step, and then another, tree by tree he pulled himself along. He didn't think of the cold, or the snow, or the trees and rocks that he climbed over. He only listened to Earl's slow steady bawl, moving his feet with each one, the grin never leaving his lips. Finally he could see Earl sitting at the base of a little cotton wood tree with his head tipped back, barely taking another breath before letting loose his bawl. There about half way up the tree sat a black dot, just a little bit smaller then Earl, the only way that Jimmy could see what it was, was cause it moved its head to look at Jimmy as he stumbled to his knee's by Earl's side.

Re: a part of my book
It's coming along. My hands always turn blue when they are cold.LOL!
My old Earl who had the ghostly quivering bawl on track had what we hunters call a dying locate bawl and then he went into a deep steady chop.
Trailing BOOOOOOooooooooooo woooowoooooo locating OOwwwwwwooooooooooo
locking on the wood OOWH! OW! OW! OW! OW! OW! OW!
Many a day a night I could see the frost around his muzzle as he hammered the timber telling the world that he had the fur.

I want to add the flavor and color!!! I can't add any expertise but I can taint the flavor some.
