Chain or Kennel
Just outta curiosity I wanted some feed back on chain vs kennel. Have a dog that keeps getting her self over the fence wrapped around stuff but a kennel they could dig out and be gone so chain them up in the kennel??? Im kinda at a loss hear and im Kinda tired of chains but i really dont want to go find dogs if they dig out? Is concrete floors to hard on them?

concert is awesome...i love it. My dogs are in the back yard and they are on both dirt and concert. But I havnt clipped a nail in the year and half or two years that i've lived here. My suggestion would be cement the fence to the ground and enough around it that they get enough friction to wear they're nails down. And if they climb just use hot fence. Bought mine that the local feed store for 20 bucks.

this question is asked over and over. six foot fence with concrete six-ten inches under ground about eight inches wide electric fence 4" ubove ground 4-6" 's out from inside of fence and another wire around the top of the kennel. if a dog is really determined use a hotter fence charger and a third wire three feet from ground. a dog chained in a kennel is a REAL bad idea as the chance of the dog hanging or choking itself to death is real high. thick gravel on the ground is a good idea. ten inches of pea gravel makes it hard for the dog to dig as it keeps caveing in and makes kenel cleaning easy with a manure fork as the gravel falls through and the poo don't. real nice for drainage.

My dogs each have a 20' x 6' concrete run with a storage building at one end with dog houses built into it. I hired a finisher to get the smoothest finish possible when I poured the concrete. Half of each run is covered with roof. It's fenced with 6' chain link, wired and plumbed for electricity and running water. Been really happy with it since day one. Been 5 or 6 years now since I built it. Never trimmed a toenail nor had a dog escape. The dogs seem to like their quarters too. I don't think I'll be going any other direction in the future.
