Ken Duncan (Dalton Creek Kennels)
Re: Ken Duncan (Dalton Creek Kennels)
I know that this does not really count but I just booked a male pup out of sue and mingo. I am stoked! Has anyone hunted with either one of them?

Re: Ken Duncan (Dalton Creek Kennels)
Just thought that I would mention how my pup out of Jade and Albert is doing. He's seen 7 or 8 lions this year and 2 bobbers, well he's only seen one of them, the other was in a rock pile. He made his first lion race at 4.5 months and treed his first solo at 7 months. The impressive part of him is how docile and calm he is at home. He doesn't make a peep on the chain and is so good with the kids. He is still a little "herd bound" when running with the pack and won't leave them too far. When watching him on a cold trail he would trail out ahead of the other dogs a couple hundred yards and wait for them to catch up. When running alone, he is all go.
He is 18" at the shoulder, 26" ears, and 72 pounds at 7 months.
This is him treeing under a little lion a few weeks ago

Ken should be proud of the dogs he's producing.
Thanks,
Scott

Re: Ken Duncan (Dalton Creek Kennels)
Hey guys i just got a Black and tan, and it has a lot of Duncan blood in her. Names Like, Black Canyon Bow, Dalton Creek Sue, Black Canyon Tina, Black Canyon Houch, and Thiers a Hard Rock IKE. The mother to my dog was named Wind River Windy. I cant remember who the sire came from or anything. Can any one tell me more about these dogs? I also have Powell's Lil Missy in her very close and I was wondering if maybe that was Riggdogs missy dog?

Blackandtanman32,
The missy dog your asking about is not the same as my dog, however I have had lots of duncan dogs with the same dogs in their pedigree. In my opinion it's pretty hard to beat the bo dog for a foundation of your dogs. Best dog I ever owned was a bo/sue pup. Still amazes me what that dog could do. I have had several others with this same breeding and also had good results. Last month I made the second cross of two good bear dogs that we had good luck crossing the first time, these dogs have alot of the same dogs in their pedigree as your dog. Good luck with your new dog.
Razorrb,
I have never hunted with either dog but I have a two year old mingo/shadow dog that I love. great disposition and hunts his ass off. Had him ate up by a bad bear last fall and he never quit. I think mingo is throwing some good looking tough pups. hope that helps.

If given the opportunity would you get a sue and mingo pup or a shadow and albert pup? And why?

Re: Ken Duncan (Dalton Creek Kennels)
I think either cross should be good. I really like Shadows pups I have hunted with a few and most of them were real nice. But I don't think you can go wrong with Mingo he and his brothers seem to reproduce very good. Tough decision for sure I think you will be happy either way. IMO!!!!

I have a mingo pup and i havent started him yet, but i like what ive seen from him as far as natural ability and drive. You could also base your decision on how the studs are bred. Mingo is more duncan bred and albert being mainly hicks bred. Not sure what the dams trace to, but you probably would be satisfied with a hound out of either stud.
Re: Ken Duncan (Dalton Creek Kennels)
More then one Shadow female? What does anybody know about the female PR Duncan's Dalton Creek Shado crossed with PR Gallahers Three Time Albert.

Re: Ken Duncan (Dalton Creek Kennels)
Here's a few pictures of some pups we have on the ground. They turned 5wks old today and are all just a ball of fire. Their parents are both Duncan bred, a Skeeter/Cricket cross and Jim/Bareeb cross. This thread has been so positive I hate to see it end on a negative comment....

Rigdogs very nice looking pups. I was talking to Ken a while back he told me about a young dog he has named Hoss! I think he said it came from you would these happen to be the same cross as him.
