Simple heel knot on a crown royle bottle. I gave this part of my bighorn sheep that I gave to a buddy that helped me with my hunt. A little different kind of knot use.

I used to work for Doug Groves at the TS in Battle Mountain NV. He is one of the old time braiders. He is a wealth of information and would help anybody with there braiding. I haven’t braided much in a while but like you I need to start getting serious about it again. I still build a lot of chaps, chinks, and spur straps but the rawhiding does something for mind and sole. I think it is very relaxing and satisfying but making the time in this fast pace world is tough. It is defiantly easier to make time when you are at a camp job. Good looking gear Joe, really like those chinks in the last pic.

Here's a few claws with knots for keyrings. I tied knots on a claw off my first bear bout 30 years ago. Buddys drive me nuts asking for a knot on a claw of theirs. I do a few every year but don't bye a taxidermy lic. so dodge most of them.
I did a griz claw for a well known houndsman, dang they are big.

I can tell you right now that I'm no where near that good! But, maybe with enough time i could figure it out... I am trying to get my pics to work. I stored all of our pics (family, hunts, braiding, etc) on a desktop computer and i have already spent over $500 at Geek Squad trying to get the computer fixed.....that's more than I paid for it! Anyhow, i hope it gets figured out cause if not ill go nuts and i have learned a solid lesson.... Always store your info on external things like a jump drive or something. We may have lots 10+ years of some really cool pictures if it can't get fixed....

I planto buy a couple hides and start cutting string soon.

I've been trying to log on with a new computer and satlite system for a couple days now. Won't let me reply so I'm back on the old puter and dial up.

Thanks for the coments on the knot work, mine is pretty crude compared to who I learned from. There's sure some new talent out there in the braiding world. The influence from South America has really up'd the quality of the braiders. Guys are braiding with the skill of the master Ortega. Gonna be fun watching just how far it goes.
