If the dog is still hanging on I would think maybe coccidosis..
symptoms are kinda similar but very seldom has blood in the scours... and sometimes the little protozoa do not show up in the sample the vet takes.
If you havehad birds around the pens ---Chickens,starlings or other birds there is a strong chance of it. and some other animals can carry it also.. Albon is the treatment. talk to the vet about that..
if that is the case then it will clear up shortly after treatment... then you would need to keep things clean and watch for the birds...
and be ready to treat the next dogs that come to your place as it can stay on the land for quite some time. I think it can stay in the soil for years so good luck.

something like that should be taken to as many vets as it takes to get it figured out. it may a totally different illness then your treating you've already lost one pup that could have contaminated your whole property. financially if you loose only a few pups it's worth it and some things can be spread to others dogs. and causeing the loss of someone else's hound wouldn't endear you much as a hunting buddy. and like said above if you buy new pups unless you know exactly what to gaurd against there's a good chance to loose them aswell. vet work is something that I feel a person should limit to what they can do stitches, thorn removal ,nut cutting. ear clraning but second guessing infectious desease's is beyond most even trained indi

viduals unless test are performed. good luck with the pup

Is the infected area limited to just the kennel or is it all over the yard?

For the kennel, a propane fired weedburner torch works good. Torch everything, top to bottom, inside and out. I gotta believe fire kills most everything.

Andy, I just had this happen with 3 pups. I went to thinking it was parvo, to possibly coccidiosis and am now treating for ecoli which has made the big difference.
It, like coccidiosis is brought in by birds and in my case, dairies.
I was lucky to have a close friend with the meds on hand and the two at home are doing a lot better.
The vet is still trying to treat the first one for parvo and I may lose her. They were all 3 1/2 months old.

we always give the 7 way shots at least twice and usually three times and as long as the place you purchased them from has kept them cool you should be able to rule out parvo. if we don,t give the shots every puppy will die before he reaches one year old around here.

The best prevention for parvo or any other diseases ,is to vaccinate the DAM BEFORE breeding her.She will pass on her immune system to her offsprings. Then the pups should be vaccinated at 4 months old.
Some breeders tend to over -vaccinate with boosters . It a waste of money because the dam"s immune system counter-acts the shots. John

All 3 pups are pulling through fine. The ones I treated for ecoli are doing the best and are back to being holy terrors. The one the vet treated is slower responding.
Thank you all for all the tips and help. It has been a life saver for them.
I used Bouceback and Pedialyte instead of Gatoraide.
The meds and advice from a greyhound friend was what saved them.
Thanks again for all the informative posts regarding this.
